Apprentice Coaches from Israel and Palestine participate in the Football Festival for Hope 2010 held in conjunction with the Men's World Cup in South Africa. The team played against youth teams from across the world - all representatives of organizations working to cobat social issues through football, including HIV education, land mines, street violence and more.
The Discover Football Tournament demonstrating that for many women across the world playing football means self-determination and a way out of sometimes oppressive societal expectations and challenging political circumstances. Women from Paraguay, ecuador, Serbia, Austria, Germany and Afghanistan also participated in the tournament.
The first time on an airplane, first time in a pool, in the mall, without your parents, on a 'real' grass gield, going to sleep and waking up in the morning with Israeli/Palestinian children... everything for the first time; everything unique. The 'Peace Team' played football together against groups from all over Germany in a tournament which emphasised fairplay, cooperation, team spirit and a positive attitude!
As guests of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation a mixed Palestinian-Israeli boys football team participated in a specially tailored tour in Germany.
Special visit to Madrid as guests of the Deporte y Desarrollo organisation and the Real Madrid Foundation. The group met with Real Madrid's stars, attended the teams training sessions, participated in matches with local youth teams and excitedly watched Real Madrid FC win 3-2 against Seville FC at the Santiego Bernabeu Stadium.
Dynamo camp in San Marcellon Pistoiese. During the camp the kids enjoyed special activities including horse-riding, arts and crafts and sports including football and basketball. For many kids, this was their first trip abroad and they were excited to explore a different way of life. The children visited Florence and Rome and enjoyed Italian culture, customs and most importantly the food!
Inter Campus Tournament 2009. 19 teams from across the world participated in this exciting global competition which also included educational and cultural activites as well as a visit to San Sero stadium and the chance to meet FC Inter Milano before the game against Napoli in front of 80,000 spectators.
A mixed Palestinian-Israeli delegation traveled to Linz, Austria to participate in the Yes09 football tournament.
In July a small delegation attended the Elk Shoals American Interfaith Camp in North Carolina. The camp was structured around the concepts of respect, trust and understanding with activities focusing on team building, self confidence and understanding of the natural world and its diverse cultures.
In August, Jewish and Arab children took part in the Youth Campus Basketball Camp in colaboration with Casa Sefarad- Israel. During their daily basketball training the children were also joined by world baketball champions including Pau and Marc Gasol, Rudy Fernandez, Jose Calderon and more. The kids shared in the spirit of the camp and its promotion of multiculturalism and integration through sport.
The 'Next Generation Initiative: Med-Sisters Cross-Border Cruise set sail around Greece in October 2008. In collaboaration with Hellenic Aid the five-day site-seeing and peacebuilding cruise succeeded in creating new and strengthening existing relationships between the young participants, giving them an experience of a lifetime.
